This is an oil on canvas of 130 / 97 cm. was inspired by my visit to the Alex Katz exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. It depicts a scene of visitors at the inauguration of an exhibition of paintings by Rothko. You will see that the composition is motivated by Katz. You will also see the simplification of facial features and the use of flat colours also influenced by Katz. It is a very cheerful painting with colour and atmosphere. With each new oeuvre I rediscover the joy of beauty and creation. My curiosity about life has led me, in art, to experiment with many methods of plastic expression. But whether I’m working in oil, sculpture or print, it’s all a way of sharing my zest for life, of capturing the instant.
