This is a print. It is a xylograph with collagraph of 4 plates; 3 wood plates and one Formica plate. Each plate is of one colour. The print depicts a scene of 5 fishermen collecting up their nets after the nights labour. This print was inspired while on holiday in Ibiza when I used to cycle to pick up the newspapers in the early morning so saw the fishermen mending the nets after their night`s fishing. I was fascinated by the movement of the figures so stopped to draw them.
This is a colourful work with much movement and atmosphere.
I started printing because I see it as a medium which allows me to always keep my work while sharing it with others again and again! I enjoy the discipline of printing and it has helped me to synthesize my work; again, the long process of making the plates doesn’t stop me seizing the instant.
